'He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Finance and Commerce, Loyola University School of Law, and the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government for Senior Executives in State and Local Government.'
His government experience includes service as the CAO of the City of New Orleans and District Councilman on the New Orleans City Council. Marlin was elected Criminal Sheriff of Orleans Parish in November of 2004, nine months before Hurricane Katrina devastated our City.  He was re-elected in 2006 and 2010. Now, Marlin Gusman serves as "The" Sheriff of Orleans Parish - both Civil and Criminal.


During his tenure as Sheriff, Marlin Gusman has initiated innovative programs to prepare inmates for productive and successful re-entry into our community.  These programs include The Fast Track Program; a Day Reporting Center; a Regional Re-Entry Program; Pre-Trial Services; Work Transitional Program; and educational programs with the Orleans Parish School System and Delgado Community College.

In his capacity as Civil Sheriff, Marlin Gusman has modernized the office and provided courteous and efficient services to all parties who use the Orleans Parish Civil District Court System.

Marlin Gusman is a modern and enlightened Sheriff and he deserves to be re-elected.
